Seasons

Each of Ma Nature’s seasons is different, and each affects us differently.  When she’s tossing us a cold spell with below freezing weather that goes on for a while, we tend to long for those comfortable spring days when we can be out in our yards. And, when we are sweltering in the worst days of the dog days of summer, we can’t wait for fall to come with its brilliant colors and cooler temperatures. We also tend to think about and prepare for each of the seasons in advance of when they come about.
Life has its seasons as well, but perhaps we don’t place as much importance or thought into those seasons as we do with Ma Natures. The seasons of life are:

·         Spring—birth to the 20’s

·         Summer—20’s to 40’s

·         Fall—40-‘s to mid 60’s

·         Winter—mid 60’s till our death.
Each of those life seasons play a role in our lives, and there is a lot of flexibility in the spring through fall seasons. All of those are important to us. It is what we do in those seasons that prepare us for our final season of life, the winter. There are many things we can do right, and there .are an equal amount of things we can do wrong during those seasons, and each one can be a tipping point of how our end days will be. Some of the more important preparations that should be addressed in those first three seasons of our lives are:

·         How are we relationally with our families and those close to us?

·         Have we prepared ourselves financially?

·         Is our spiritual foundation solid; are we in community with God?

·         Have we prepared ourselves intellectually and emotionally for the winter season?
I know from experience, and perhaps you do too, that the invincibility of youth doesn’t last forever. Sometimes we just don’t think about that winter season soon enough, and when it comes we’re going to say one of two things; “oh gosh,” or “oh thank goodness.” One thing is certain—the clock will run out, and old age will be upon us, and if we aren’t prepared, life will be much more difficult.

Bottom Line Thought: Are you thinking and preparing for the winter season of your life?
