A Literary Masterpiece

Books have several things in common, whether they are literary masterpieces, paper backs, fiction, or non-fiction.  They all have pages, chapters, beginnings, endings, and they all carry a message.  In many cases they also have epilogues.

We, as men, husbands, and fathers, should consider our lives as books because there are many similarities:
  • in our life books, there are many pages and chapters
  • there is a beginning and an end
  • there is also an epilogue
  • and to those who see us, there is a message we are sending about ourselves.
We should consider that our lives are open books (unless we are hermits squirreled away from any human contact).  People see us, and see what we do, what we are made of, how we conduct ourselves, what values we represent.  In everything we do, we are writing another page.  There are also many chapters in our life books, some dark, some ugly, some funny, some bright, but each represents us uniquely.  It is our own individual story.

What is contained in the early chapters and past pages of our life's story isn't important other than it represents to us opportunities to learn from mistakes and change to become better men.  What is most important about your book, is what goes into that new page called today.  While we don't know how long our book will be, one thing should be an utmost priority for all men:

As I live my life story out each day, am I building a literary masterpiece that will be pleasing to God?
